Located approximately 50 miles northwest of Phoenix, Crown King sits at an elevation of 6,000 feet within the beautiful Prescott National Forest. Guests travel 28 scenic miles from Interstate 17 along a county-maintained dirt road, crossing the historic “Magic Bridge” into one of Arizona’s most memorable mountain towns.
Originally established as a thriving gold mining community, Crown King is rich in Arizona history. The road into town follows the route of Murphy’s Impossible Railroad, which operated from 1904 to 1926, transporting millions of dollars in gold ore from the surrounding mines.
Today, Crown King is known as “The Little Town with a Heart of Gold” and offers visitors a refreshing mountain escape with temperatures often 20 to 30 degrees cooler than the Phoenix Valley. Guests can enjoy historic buildings, off-road adventures, local restaurants, vacation cabin rentals, a general store, and Arizona’s oldest continuously operating saloon.
