Do you need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get to Crown King?

No you do not, especially if you are prudent and drive carefully.  The only time you need 4 wheel drive is during snowy conditions and possibly during “Monsoon Season”.  Call the Innkeeper for questionable road conditions.  Remember the Crown King road is a “historic” one lane road.  Be safe and aware that others may drive to fast so get over safely to the side. Trailer Parking/Large Truck Parking in Crown King?

Suites:  Main circle driveway, labeled guest parking. If you have multiple vehicles notify owner for additional parking.

NO TRAILER parking available in the circle drive.

Cabins: Most cabins have their own parking entrances.  All have gates that will be open upon arrival.  Gates are narrow, limited large vehicles and trailer parking is discouraged.  Damage to the gates is renters responsibility.  The Cottage by the Creek Cabin does have a circle drive for trailers but again the gate entry is narrow.

There is limited parking in  all of Crown King for large trucks and trailers of any kind. There is no turn around by the Saloon.  We have  limited accessible trailer on this property.  The Saloon overflow parking is now closed as well to trailer parking or camping.

Solutions:

Either stage down the mountain near Bumblebee Exit or Bloody Basin Exit and drive your off road vehicle up the mountain.  Or if you insist on bringing your large trailer then drive past the town and park your trailer in open forest spots towards Horsethief Basin.
